Founder’s Day Commemoration in Honor of Imam Thomas Abdul Salaam…

“If it is to be…it’s up to me.” –
Imam Thomas Abdul Salaam (R)

“The Twin Servant was blessed to make connections from the wisdom of Imam Dr. W. Deen Mohammed (R) and he peered into the future to make one of the greatest connections our Community has ever benefited from…he connected us by integrating the vision of a national working intelligentsia with a powerful broadcasting medium… He sought to give all of us a voice to become a sounding and working group intellect within the respectful framework of Shuraa Baynahum.”—Mukhtar Muhammad, CWSC Executive Director

CWSC has declared August 26 as CWSC Founder’s Day to be celebrated annually. This official commemoration date was established to honor the life, contributions and legacy of CWSC and AM360 founder Imam Thomas Abdul-Salaam (R).

August 26 was decided in consultation with and approval by Imam Thomas’ widow and fellow co-founder, Dr. Aisha Kareem, who explains that the birth of AM360 that led to the birth of CWSC is really Thomas’ birth as a national and even international community leader. It was on August 26, 2010, that Thomas courageously took the steps to officially turn an idea into a reality, to move from paper to people, and from thought to action. He would put his time, energy, intellect and funds in the service of Allah (SWT) to establish both a national broadcasting network and a national intelligentsia to connect our intellects and our work. And now by Allah (SWT) what began in one person’s mind has now grown to include all of us and is still growing crossing ethnic, religious, cultural and geographical boundaries.

CWSC will mark the Annual Day with remembrances, interviews, tributes and other appropriate recognition of the sacrifice and commitment Thomas demonstrated till his last days of serving Allah (SWT) and his community. His motto of “If it is to be, it’s up to me” has now brought us to the bigger community vision of “If it is be, it’s up to we.”

Today at 8 a.m. EST, Join AM360.org Host Host M. Nailah Williams and a line-up of CWSC, AM360 and guests from throughout the Community for a rare interview with Dr. Aisha Kareem, the Muslimah who was there from the very beginning to see the birth of and helped usher in the national intelligentsia serving all communities nationwide. Live stream also at (701) 719-4197. Listen for live studio call-in information to make comments.

All believers are invited to join in the commemoration live each year as announced at AM360.org with special guests and the AM360 and CWSC Family to revisit the roots of a national intelligentsia with those who were there, knew and worked with the Twin Servant of Peace as he sacrificed until his final days serving Allah (SWT) and his community by establishing both a national broadcasting network and national intelligentsia connecting our hearts, intellects and our work across the U.S.

We always ask for Allah’s Mercy upon CWSC’s first leader and mentor to many. Visit here to learn more about this extraordinary leader who was inspired and empowered by the Leadership of Imam W. Deen Mohammed (R) to remake the world. Visit more tributes here too.
