Intelligentsia

“We should have a studious group…studying our history and present circumstances…they should be predicting what we have to face 20, 30, 40 years from now.” —Imam W. Deen Mohammed (ra)

CWSC’s primary mission is to design, build, and operate the infrastructure to facilitate connections for shuraa (mutual respectful consultation and work) between the widest possible population of believers throughout the country. Our goal is to help our community unleash and harness the full capacity inherent in our group intellect. CWSC takes its impetus from Al-Quran, Prophet Muhammed (S) and our leader, Imam W. Deen Mohammed (ra), who encouraged his Association to form alliances and an intelligentsia to help our community practically advance its model community vision and help remake the world.

We have taken the Imam’s words to heart and begun to build that national intelligentsia that will also serve as a powerful, skilled resource body and think tank to address chronic or systemic issues affecting our community life and simultaneously to explore new opportunities that will benefit us all.

To accomplish our mission, we seek the participation of the group intellect across geographic, age, gender, socio-economic, title or other potential barriers and discriminators that often block the pragmatic synergy of intellectual resources. By incorporating venues like the National Town Hall for Mutual Consultation and tools like a national resource directory and volunteer network, and a national broadcasting network, CWSC is able to help the Community form and practically implement a national agenda with a focus on strengthening all our institutions.

The CWSC model provides a powerful framework that allows the group intellect to effectively engage, address our circumstances, propose solutions and measure for results. Together we can build world class institutions in all our cities…together we can remake the world.

“So, it was impossible for Allah (SWT) to reveal to any one man the plan for our social destiny and that one man lead us into that destiny by himself.  Not even with Revelation, not even with his Sunnah, can he do it! He has to invite the participation of the excellent people in his environment and together they work.  That’s Shuraa!…So the most important elements for establishing the community is Qur’an, Sunnah, and Shuraa and you can’t have it [establishment] without Shuraa.” —Imam W. Deen Mohammed
