Segregation in America has had the impact of keeping people isolated and ignorant of one another’s languages, cultures, and religions. Today’s children connected to the entire world through the world wide web of the Internet, need to be prepared to live in a diverse society. Yet our schools are still lagging behind in preparing them with the tools to be culturally adept in a global community. Today’s guest Lavinia Weisser, an American now living and working in China as a teacher, gives us a perspective on how Chinese children are being prepared for the global community, in contrast to the children in America.
