The Female Solution: Financing A Family Business
Families in America must work together in order to prosper economically. This is a basic rule of survival. Often, immigrants come to this country with intentions to start a business in order to employ family members so that everyone in the family has a job. An organized group of families may even contribute to the start up capital of each family’s business, a common practice among some immigrant groups to enable the building of a strong commercial section of their community. However, families who descend from the African American slave experience often have no concept of business as a means of independence, wealth building and empowerment. How do we develop the understanding and trust necessary to help each other finance family businesses and create our own jobs?
