Gratefulness on Memorial Day…
Not equal are those believers who sit at home and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the Cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah has granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit at home. Unto all in Faith has Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight has He distinguished above those who sit at home by a special reward…Al-Qur’an, 4:59
And did not Allah check one set of people by means of another, the earth would indeed be full of mischief. But Allah is full of bounty to all the worlds…Al-Qur’an, 2:251
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) commanded: “O! People do not wish to encounter the enemy; from Allah wish for good health and when you encounter them, be patient. Know that heaven is under the shadow of the swords.”
NATIONAL – Memorial Day is in remembrance of all who are serving and have served to defend the nation and especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice – those who have given their lives for their fellow citizens and peoples the world over. Today, right now, in this moment, as we celebrate Ramadan or as our fellow brethren will celebrate their faith holidays, and as together we honor our civic national holidays, none might be able to believe according to his or her heart and intellect; none might be able to practice his or her faith privately or publicly; none might be able to vote or peacefully assemble and demand their voice be heard—if there were not those willing to go forth. We honor you. We say thank you. And we ask that Allah (SWT) Who is the Final Judge, Who has full knowledge of all things hidden and revealed, that He rewards His Servants according to the best of their deeds and protect their families and our nation and all mankind working, respecting and defending the G-d-given freedoms that is the sovereign right of every human being.
We also say prayers for so many lost to COVID-19 including the many veterans. May Allah forgive his servants as He pleases and strengthen the families.
