“And each one has a goal toward which he turns; so vie with one another in good works. Wheresoever you may be, Allah will bring you all together. Lo! Allah is able to do all things”—Al-Qur’an, 2:148
Dear CWSC Volunteer: As-Salaam-Alaikum (Peace be with you)! Welcome again to the CWSC. We’re excited to have your intellect, talents and energy aboard.
As part of your orientation, we ask you to take the time to listen to the Essentials of Adaab series conducted by Dr. Ameena Ali, CWSC’s Ethics & Human Relations Advisor.
Because a vast amount of the work that you will accomplish is not face-to-face, but via technology, trust and honoring of commitments are critical to our culture and operations. Excellent human relations are the glue that helps oil our national intelligentsia and prevents unmet expectations.
Our volunteer leaders take their responsibilities as important commitments in the form of a loan to the Creator to benefit their fellow man. The loan is not one of dollars as much as it is something even more unique and valuable, and something that the Creator gives to you alone—a unique inclination to accomplish your purpose.
Etiquette is grace and charm; this is how you give that charitable thing and you don’t even want your name known. This is that smile that is charity and sometimes all that you can give.—Dr. Ameena Ali
Yet you will not be working alone, but with a national and even international group intellect. And that means we should know the expectations we have of one another and seek to ascribe to the highest standards in our relationships. Only then can we best work together to help remake the world.
Dr. Ameena has provided an invaluable service to the entire CWSC and we hope that by sharing in this learning lab, you will be even more capable of and committed to doing your best not only inside CWSC, but in all your relationships and responsibilities.
Part of the Learning Lab is accessible on this page. Click here to complete the second half. To send in comments on the learning email info@cwsc.us or leave a comment on our listener comment line at (910) 317-0297.
May Allah (SWT) reward you greatly for your service to communities nationwide.
