Dr. Aisha Kareem

NATIONAL – AM360.org known as American Muslim 360 and the #1 Islamic radio station in the nation announced today that Dr. Aisha Kareem completes her tenure as the Chief Executive Officer of AM360, effective October 31, 2018, to become a member of the Board of Directors for AM360’s parent corporation, the Community Wide Shuraa Conference, Inc. (CWSC). Dr. Kareem will also help lead CWSC’s international work and serve in the honorary role of CEO Emeritus for AM360.

CWSC’s Board of Directors has appointed Imam Abdul-Hakim Abdullah of Danville, Virginia as the new CEO for AM360. Imam Abdullah began his relationship with AM360 as an engaged listener, then advanced to the broadcast studio as a national talk show host and familiar voice on the Islam in America Movement weekly broadcast. He was also a distinguished panelist for several national CWSC Townhalls. And eventually he was tapped for Station Programming Manager by Dr. Kareem; she says of Imam Abdullah, “He possesses the knowledge, skills and commitment to continue AM360’s expansion not only nationally, but internationally. He has an unequaled drive and ability to get the job done.”

To all who have made guest appearances and to our loyal listeners, supporters, corporate sponsors and partners, I thank you for your contributions and for being a part of the teamwork.—Dr. Aisha Kareem, AM360 CEO Emeritus

The Board thanks Dr. Kareem for leading AM360 and helping to usher in a period of both stability and steady progress as the Station methodically transitioned from a personal or private concern to a national community treasure and professional 501(c)(3) non-profit intelligentsia. Both her vision and that of her late husband Imam Thomas Abdul Salaam (R), are forever etched in the DNA of the CWSC as a national intelligentsia and in AM360 as a broadcasting network. The new CEO Emeritus now joins the CWSC Board of Directors to focus on CWSC’s international work she has already begun with impressive results at the U.N. Imam Abdul-Hakim Abdullah

One of the most important responsibilities of a Chief Executive Officer is assembling a strong management team and developing the leadership team. Imam Abdullah brings a wealth of talent from his military, corporate and civic leadership experiences. As CEO, Imam Abdullah will oversee staff appointments, approve programming, continue developing partnerships to expand AM360’s reach, strategically plan content development while increasing diversity in both programming content and the roster of national hosts.

Imam Abdullah will also be responsible for helping integrate the Model Communities National Resource Directory or MCNRD and Volunteer Human Resource Network (VHRN) with AM360 and other CWSC intelligentsia components—all engaged jointly to help the group intellect easily locate and utilize talent nationwide. Imam Abdullah states, “I intend to continue taking the bold steps like my predecessors have done to make sure AM360 is the place where your intellect is respected and your voice protected…I am grateful to the CWSC Board of Directors and the entire CWSC and AM360 Team for believing in me, entrusting me with such a significant responsibility, and giving me the opportunity to be not just an ordinary, but an extraordinary worker in this Deen. I pray my service will be one of the doors by which I am permitted to enter the Paradise.”

Among the goals of the Townhall is to emerge from the conversation with more practical tools and advice offered to help both institutions and volunteers better understand the 21st century landscape both are operating in and how to apply Qur’anic-based principles to the relationship between these two entities for their mutual benefit and for society’s benefit.

New AM360 Podcast Series on Adhab Debuts October 29

NATIONAL – When CWSC asked its Ethics & Human  Relations Advisor to help address issues of courtesy, respect, etiquette and the professional conduct expected inside and outside our homes, offices, worship and workplaces for those who call themselves believers, the results were astounding.

DrAmeenaAli

Dr. Ameena Ali

Now in a special series entitled A Learning Lab on Adaab, AM360 national talk show host Dr. Ameena Ali of The Birth of Women weekly broadcast, has tackled subjects ranging from business, courtship and respect for elders, to manners, grace and charm and much more—And she’s reminded us of the need to become better mirrors first for ourselves, then for one another and finally for the broader society to help reflect the best in character and behavior.

The Series is timely also in that CWSC is broadcasting a national townhall on volunteerism in which some expected individual etiquettes of commitment including honoring promises, doing our best in even small things like providing timely responses to one another, will be front and center in the discussion.

Etiquette is grace and charm together; this is how you give that charitable thing to a person and you don’t even want your name known…this is that smile that is that charity—and sometimes all that you can give.—Dr. Ameena Ali

CWSC’s Executive Director Mukhtar Muhammad stated recently, “…the tremendous work that Dr. Ameena Ali has produced and what she does daily in her civic and professional life are evidence of the great resources we have in our group intellect. Broadly if more of us would recognize that each one of us is a valuable resource and not unfairly discriminate against one another simply because one is or is not an imam or nationally known; or you’re a male or a female, or you’re too young or too old;  or you don’t have a degree, or you have too many degrees, then we’d make more progress. Sometimes our prejudices against one another right inside our own institutions are the greatest impediments to our progress…not some outside force. We have to get beyond ignoring the talent among us and find ways to tap into the vast intellectual resources and skilled expertise present across the country. Yet when we do, we still have to know how to treat one another inside the context of a shuraa baynahum-based environment. I believe that the Adhab Series produced by Dr. Ameena will definitely help CWSC accelerate its corporate culture to reflect even more of a Madinah Munawarah centered approach to leadership, organization and management and help us become more professional as volunteers and leaders. I pray her work will be of great benefit to all of us.”

Dr. Ameena Ali is a professional midwife, maternal educator, reproductive, birth and social justice activist and “lactivist,” is a certified doctor of naturopathic care, a Distinguished Speaker in the CWSC Speakers Bureau, and host of AM360’s The Birth of Women; she is founder-director of Atlanta-based A Mother’s Peace midwifery outreach attending to the maternal wellness needs of women in crises including indigent, homeless, undocumented, incarcerated, HIV, teen clientele and pregnant domestic violence and sexual assault victims.

Stay tuned for more information on the Series that will be featured in specially announced AM360 broadcasts. Dr. Ameena will also be asked to appear with the Executive Director on Getting to Know the CWSC and other venues to discuss the Series. And next year, a townhall is being considered around the Series’ subject matter. And if you read to the end, here’s a special preview treat.
